lyrics

Across a city lost in smog, a red light shines through the grey,
Though it’s a night of falling stars he has no wishes to give away.
“See that light? That’s where she lives” he sort of said offhand,
It took some time for me to get it, but I think I understand.

Sometimes we fall into the dark, but in getting out we learn,
Sometimes the darkest moments come, right before the light returns,
I’ve never seen a pair of kids, love each other so,
I just hope that they don’t break, when it’s time to go.

So red light stay,
Show them the way,
So red light shine
Just give them time.
But this story isn’t just for them, another soul brings power,
There was a second source of light burning from the tower.

I’m just so bad at that first step, I’m horrible with phrasing
But when we locked eyes when we sang I just said, “you’re amazing”
What’s the worst that could happen? I’d love to see the best.
I’d rather make apologies and harmonies than have regrets.

So red light burn,
So when’s my turn?
So red light shine,
Can you see mine?
You're afraid to fall knowing I won't be around to catch you
Cause I'm leaving in a few days but don't think I'll forget you
I hope one day you can figure out who you are
But until I'm back on the west coast you're the brightest city light star.

Interlude

So red light glow,
One day we’ll know,
So red light shine,
Just give a sign,
Either way I had an amazing time.

about

Dan Kahn Baltimore, Maryland

Having been influenced by experiences writing for a ska band in New Jersey, I have decided to start writing acoustic music. I'm a very strong believer in "Do it Yourself", which is why I write/record all of my own material. I also believe that a song is never "done". It just continues to evolve, making those drafts I sent out to people three years ago fun, embarrassing, and neat way to see growth. ... more
